to receive multiple weekly honors. The last position player other than Ramírez to win for Cleveland

Lindor claimed his third career Player of the Week Award and his first in the NL, previously winning AL Player of the Week while a teammate of José’s in 2018 with Cleveland. Francisco is the first Mets winner since Noah Syndergaard in August 2019, and the first Mets position player since Pete Alonso in June 2019.

season, the fastest to reach five such games in Club history.

• His 48 RBI through his first 42 games of the season were tied for third-most in franchise history, trailing only Manny

Ramriez (56 RBI; 1999) and Al Rosen (49 RBI; 1954).

Additional Play of the Week candidates included Adam Engel’s home run-robbing catch at Guaranteed Rate Field; Nolan Arenado’s diving stop and throw to second base; Kolten Wong’s diving stop and flip to Luis Urías; Pete Alonso’s diving snag and backhanded flip to Carlos Carrasco; and Aristides Aquino’s throw home to secure the final out and seal a win for Cincinnati.

I’m riding a Mets high.

I have to say it is a weird feeling to have the Mets gal behind three runs in the first inning and not think that the game is over. It is weird to feel the Mets will come back and win a game. There isn’t a sense of dread with the Mets this season. I don’t feel like the Mets are going to have an automatic loss while they play. The team seems energetic and also seem like a gelled professional team and not just a thrown together roster of second basemen placing every position. I always I’m optimistic about the season every year and usually about May/June that goes out the window.

Right now I’m riding a high of my team winning and having a good lead in their division and I don’t know how to handle it. How you guys feeling?

Complaints from Fans about Citi Field

Usually by this time of year I get emails from folks that have issues with how the staff in the box office, parking, concessions, or security is acting towards the fans. I have gotten very few of these this year. That’s makes me happy. I hate having to bring issues up to the attention to the people I know at the ballpark and I am so glad that it seems, at least to me, the organizers is on the right track now. If you guys have some issues I missed over this time hit me up at mediagoon@gmail.com and maybe

Strawberry to be at Mets Old Timer’s Game

DARRYL STRAWBERRY TO ATTEND OLD TIMERS’ DAY

FLUSHING, N.Y., May 26, 2022 – The New York Mets today announced that Darryl Strawberry will take part in Old Timers’ Day on August 27 at Citi Field. It will be a special homecoming for Strawberry as it will mark the first time in 32 years that he will step onto a field wearing a Mets uniform.

“Shea was always a wonderful place for me,” Strawberry said. “The fans were always great. They supported me in the good and bad times.”

Strawberry looks forward to reuniting with many of his 1986 teammates and sharing memories of that remarkable season.

“Sorry to say, I don’t think I will be able to play,” Strawberry said. “My knees and shoulder won’t let me swing a bat anymore. It’s the wear and tear and the years catching up with me. I will be there supporting the guys who will be on the field.”

The Los Angeles, California native was selected by the Mets with the first overall pick in the 1980 MLB Draft. He spent eight years with the club and was a seven-time All-Star with the Mets. The right fielder earned National League Rookie of the Year honors in 1983 after batting .257/.336/.512 with 26 home runs and 74 RBI. In 1988, he became the second Met to win a National League home run title, joining Dave Kingman, when he hit 39 homers. He is still the Mets’ all-time leader in home runs (252).

One of his most memorable moments came on October 1, 1985 when he hit a home run off the clock in St. Louis against Ken Dayley to give the Mets a 1-0, 11-inning victory in the heart of a pennant race.

“We had great rivalry with the Cards back then,” said Strawberry. “They didn’t like us, and we didn’t like them. Unfortunately, we won 98 games that year and didn’t make the playoffs.”

Over 60 former Mets are scheduled to join Strawberry at Old Timers’ Day including Mike Piazza, Johan Santana, Pedro Martínez, Tim Teufel, Josh Thole, John Franco, Keith Hernandez, Ron Darling, Al Leiter, Ed Kranepool, Frank Thomas, Ron Swoboda, Jon Matlack, Félix Millán, Mookie Wilson, Howard Johnson, Bobby Ojeda, Robin Ventura, Turk Wendell, Endy Chávez, Cliff Floyd, Billy Wagner and Daniel Murphy.

The Old Timers’ Day player introductions will begin well ahead of the scheduled 7:10 p.m. game vs. the Rockies. Fans can purchase tickets to this game and all 2022 Mets home games at the Citi Field box office, by visiting Mets.com/Tickets or calling 718-507-TIXX.

Pete Alonso shills Carshield?

“Hi this is Pete Alonso and I’m calling about your expiring car warranty.” Wait. That’s not it. But that was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this commercial today. I don’t know how good a product car shield is but I can tell you who I feel is a little stiff delivering his lines.

Let me know if you saw this commercial and what you thought of it.

Good News and Bad News Mets Fantasy Campers

Good News. Clover Park Stadium is going to be getting a new stadium field. Bad News. If you were going to Mets Fantasy Camp, it won’t be ready for you to play on this year.

To me, one of the big selling points is to play on the field with former players being around you. At least they have a plan to still have it at a stadium albeit not the Mets “proper” one but at least there is a plan.

“Clover Park Stadium Field -   For some background – many do not know that St. Lucie County owns the facility that we call home for Spring Training and Fantasy Camp.  The grounds crew are not Mets employees as well as most of the decisions regarding the overall facility are not a Mets decision. The county has approved the complete tear down and rebuild of the stadium field.  Unfortunately that means Fantasy Camp can’t  use the main field this year.  Destruction is set to start immediately after the St. Lucie season ends in early September and the field will not be ready until February.  The field has not been redone since it was built in the  1980’s. New state of the art drainage and plumbing will be installed.

Fantasy camp looks to use  the stadium at Lawnwood (also county owned) which is a very nice facility about 10 minutes from Clover Field. They will bus campers over there.

This still sounds fun and it’s good to see the field being taken care of.

Joe Pignatano passed away

Joe Pignatano passed away this morning

Joe Pignatano, the last living coach from the 1969 Miracle Mets, passed away this morning in Naples, FL from dementia. He was 92.

Pignatano, who played for the 1962 Mets, was the bullpen coach with the Mets from 1968-1981. He was well-known for cultivating a vegetable garden, specifically tomatoes, in the Shea Stadium bullpen. The Brooklyn native played in the Majors from 1957-1962 with the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers, Kansas City Athletics, San Francisco Giants and the Mets.

Mets Fans Won’t Need These Shorts In Colorado this weekend

Keep your New York Mets spirit going even when you head to bed by wearing these Flagship Allover Print Knit Jam shorts from Concepts Sport. They are covered in New York Mets graphics and made of soft material with a little added stretch for better comfort. An adjustable waistband also lets you choose the most comfortable fit.

You can find these at lids.com.

Tomorrow, May 21st, the Mets play in Colorado. It’s going to possibly snow and be in the 30s. I don’t think anyone will be rocking these shorts. Anyway what’s up with all the crazy logos? Might have looked better if it was just the NY and maybe the skyline.

Still the best food item at Citi Firld

Over the years there have been some challengers coming for the Pastrami Sandwich at Citi Fields crown. There was bacon on a stick. Gone. There was Mama’s of Corona. Gone. Keith’s Grill. Gone. Pat LaFrieda Steak Sandwich. Quality of the sandwich, gone. Blue Smoke. Gone. Two Boots Pizza. Gone. Box Frites. Gone. And there were others that had a cup of coffee in the ballpark and are gone but do you know what stayed? That’s right the reigning and defending undisputed champion of the ballpark. The Pastraaaaaaaaaammmii Sandwich. Its made for the ballpark. Seasoned well. Cooked well. There is a great fat to meat ratio to it, not too much, not too little. The mustard, rye bread, and pickles are perfect. This is the all around quintessential NYC food at a NYC ballpark.

I would put it up against Zabar’s, Pastrami Queen, and yes, even Katz’s in taste, quality, and bang for your buck.

Next time you go to a Mets game and you are hungry, get this damn sandwich!
