Some Mets X(Twitter) Round Up)

I can't tell you guys the last time I felt Citi Field this crazy or seeing the fans this joyous. I have been to playoff games at Shea and at Citi Field and this might be the craziest night I have seen. Even when the team was down 1-0 the fans didn't have that over whelming dread they usually have. I am very happy for my friends in the Mets organization that have had to put up with years of crap behind the scenes. I have happy for my fellow fans that have put up with crap for years with this team in general. I am exhausted from this but this run should make an interesting QBC. Buy your tickets for the QBC here.

Darren isn't wrong about this. Some of you crap on us in the 7line Army but this is what we live for. Being able to see our team win with each other. We are there for each other good and bad,

I took David Stearns at his word that the @Mets would be competitive this year - that they would bring in some starting pitchers and compete for a Wild Card spot. But I did not see this coming - a team with the best record for the last 4+ months. Onto the NLCS and now, we'll see

— Lori Rubinson (@LRubinson) October 10, 2024

Lori is one of the best WFAN folks. She is one of us.

We had Brandon and Chelsea at QBC 2018, Two of the nicest people I have ever mer and they sure deserve this moment. They are genuine folks

Sounds like Mets fans in the past.

People just suck. They also stole someones bag and jersey which was also recovered.

Got to hang with Roger in the stands right after the game. Me and Mrs Goon got Celebratory McDonalds. She hates Whit Castle. I would have grabbed food with Roger.

Chipper Jones feeling it.

Again I have nothing to say about how much Nimmo is the man,

QBC '24; The Fourth Guest coming to QBC is....

We here at the QBC are proud to announce that we are bringing in 1986 World Series MVP Ray Knight to do a panel and signing at Queens Baseball Convention 2024. Ray joins Turk Wendell, Gregg Jefferies, and Jose Reyes* who are all doing panels and signings on SaturdayDecember 7th 2024 at the Four Points of Flushing.

We will announce prices and when tickets are up for sale within a day or two. We think the tickets should be on sale later this week.

From Wikipedia

Knight platooned third base with the newly acquired Howard Johnson for the 1985 and 1986 seasons. In his first full season with the Mets, Knight batted only .218 with six home runs and 36 RBIs. During the off-season, the Mets attempted to trade Knight to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Lee Mazzilli, but were denied.

Knight adopted a new batting stance in 1986 and saw immediate results, crushing six home runs and batting .306 with twelve RBIs in the month of April.[8] Teammate Ron Darling spoke highly of Knight's contributions in a midseason interview: "Besides our pitching, it has been Ray Knight's emergence that has been the difference. He carried us for a long time."[8] On July 22, Knight incited a bench clearing brawl at Riverfront Stadium against his former teammates.[9] Eric Davis pinch-running for Reds player/manager Pete Rose in the tenth inning stole second and third base. Knight took the throw from Mets catcher Gary Carter late, brought his glove to Davis' face and knocked his helmet off. A stare off ensued, followed by a right cross from Knight. The benches emptied and as a result of all the ejections from this fight (along with Darryl Strawberry who had previously been ejected for arguing balls and strikes), back-up catcher Ed Hearn was brought into the game, and Carter moved from behind the plate to third. The Mets won the game in fourteen innings.[1

The Mets won 108 games in 1986 and took the National League East convincingly by 21.5 games over the Phillies. For the season, Knight batted .298 with eleven home runs and 76 RBIs to earn NL Comeback Player of the Year honors. Knight batted only .167 in the 1986 National League Championship Series against his former teammates, the Houston Astros. In the World Series, however, Knight broke out with a .391 batting average and five RBIs.

The Mets won the 1986 World Series in seven games over the Boston Red Sox. Knight's single in the tenth inning of game six of the Series drove in Gary Carter for the first run of the inning, and also pushed Kevin Mitchell to third, allowing him to score on Bob Stanley's wild pitch. Knight then scored the winning run from second after Mookie Wilson's ground ball went through the legs of Bill Buckner, and Knight's celebration as he rounded third to score was one of the indelible images of the series.[11]

He hit the tiebreaking home run in game seven, and was rewarded with the World Series MVP award and the Baseball Writers' Association of America's Babe Ruth Award for the best performance in the World Series.

*Jose Reyes is brought to the QBC exclusively by Coach's Collectibles.
