I wonder what the Mets are paying the 1969 players to show up.
I know the Mets are notoriously cheap when it comes to paying their alumni to come in to do events. Why do you think there isn't a Mets sun fan fest? They don't want to take the financial hit that a full out fan fest could entail. This brings me to this point. How much are they paying the former players to show up? I wouldn't be surprised if the Mets are just paying for airfare and for the hotel room. It wouldn't even surprise me that they wouldn't even pay them a per diem. One thing I keep hearing that the Mets don't like to spend money on their former players to come into doing Alumni events.
Besides the 1969 Mets, I wonder what they pay the couple of players that show up on the weekends for alumni weekends with Jay Horwitz. Again, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't pay these guys either. But then again they might be paying them a good amount of money for this too. I just don't know.
But the other thing is maybe that is changing with the www.metsheritage.com site were they are going to change their ways.
