METS TO CELEBRATE SIXTH PRIDE NIGHT AT CITI FIELD JUNE 17

FLUSHING, N.Y., June 16, 2022 – The New York Mets will host their sixth Pride Night at Citi Field on June 17 when they take on the Miami Marlins at 7:10pm. Gates will open to all fans at 5:10pm.

Pride Night at Citi Field is a celebration of the many New Yorkers and Mets fans from around the world who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. All night long, the Coca-Cola sign above right field will be illuminated in the colors of the Pride Rainbow flag and in-game programming will be focused on celebrating the LGBTQ+ community. In addition, the first 25,000 fans in attendance will receive an exclusive Mets Pride fanny pack, presented by Justworks.

A special pregame ceremony will take place during the National Anthem as members of the LGBT Network, a non-profit that funds community centers and programming with resources for the LGBTQ+ Community throughout Long Island and Queens, participate in an on-field Pride flag presentation. The anthem will be performed by Krystofer Maison, a queer, non-binary singer and recording artist based in New York City. During the seventh inning stretch, drag queen Jan Sport will perform “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”

An honorary first pitch will have Sam Culwell throwing to Bryan Ruby. Culwell is a former high school baseball player who came out in 2019 and currently attends SUNY Cortland. Ruby is an independent league pro baseball player who came out during the 2021 season. They are co-founders of Proud To Be In Baseball, a player support group to help the next generation of LGBTQ+ people feel included in the game of baseball.

Before the game, former MLB umpire Dale Scott will be signing copies of his new memoir, “The Umpire Is Out: Calling the Game and Living My True Self,” in the Jackie Robinson Rotunda.

Tickets in the Big Apple Reserved section are being sold for Pride Night. These tickets are $40 with $5 from each ticket sold going to the LGBT Network. All tickets for Pride Night will have a rainbow background once activated in the Ballpark app. The Mets and LGBT Network have partnered to bring New Yorkers Pride Night at Citi Field since 2016. Tickets can be purchased at Mets.com/Pride.
