Target suspends selling MLB Trading Cards

From The Chicago Tribune.

On Wednesday, days after a fight over trading card erupted in at a Target parking lot in Brookfield, Wis. that led one man to pull a gun, word started to circulate about signs at Target stores. The company confirmed to The Action Network that the gravy train will at least halt temporarily.

“The safety of our guests and our team is our top priority,” Target said in a statement. “Out of an abundance of caution, we’ve decided to temporarily suspend the sale of MLB, NFL, NBA and Pokémon trading cards within our stores, effective May 14. Guests can continue to shop these cards online at Target.com.”

This is all started because people had money during the pandemic folks couldn't do much and collectibles/merch/memorabilia started jumping up in prices. Folks started lining up hours before the big box stores were opening and fights were breaking out. It kind of reminds me of the days when Cabbage Patch Kids and Teddy Ruxpin were being released and there were mini riots going on to get them.

One of the worst things I had seen were flippers going to Target and Walmart, sitting on the floor weighing packs to see if they got any weight differences in the packs for a "Hit". You wanted to get your kids into collecting cards? Good luck. There is a section of "collectors" in almost every collecting category that are there to flip the product and make a profit. That's fine but because some "Adults" can't act like adults things get ruing for others.
