Watching the Mets is a chore.

Made using Canva

I am not one of those bloggers that write about what happens between the lines on the baseball field or in the dugout unless it is something ridiculous and affects the fans but this team is abysmal to watch. It is a chore to watch this team play game in game out. I don't even want to watch the highlights(lowlights) on YouTube. The young players/Soto are fine enough but this team is not playing with any kind of urgency or showing that they want to win. The team is listless. The HR celebrations are stupid. The team itself needs to know when to have fun and not celebrate a solo HR when down by eleven runs. That is not the time to put on some knock off 3d printed Spider-Man mask(even if it did come from a friend),

This team is not going to be like the 2024 team that was just as soulless and was lucky to fall into the OMG and Grimace gimmicks. The biggest conspiracy theory I have read in the last few months is that this team was built shoddily and "cheaply" because of the upcoming labor issues when the CBA ends and the possibility of a hard salary cap or some version of it and since the Mets have Lindor and Soto's contracts could make it harder to build a fully balanced functioning team if the 2027 season even gets played.

I haven't gone to a non 7Line game yet this season and I used to be good for 5-10 more games at least. Between the $50 to park, the pain in the ass it is to park because of the parking spots taken away because of the casino construction and the fact that the team doesn't have any spark whatsoever makes it not worth it to go. And it is a shame too because a majority of issues that had plagued the game day experience over the years have been fixed. Urinal dividers in the Mens bathroom. Getting rid of the red security hats and shirts to blue to make the security staff look like they work for the Mets now and not the Phillies. The Ushers have blue shirts and caps too. The staff seems to be friendlier and more knowledgeable and helpful too. The staff looks to be more customer/fan service oriented now. Too bad the on the field product doesn't make it worth spending the money and the time to go to the ballpark or even watch the games on tv.

If I didn't have this blog or the QBC, I don't know how checked in that I would be at this point of the season. At least with the7line games I get to hang with a lot of my friends that I have made over the years and that makes the games palatable.

Bummer of a season but we still have fun at the stadium or at watch parties. It’s like watching a train wreck but there have been pockets of sunshine like Ewing and Benge. At the end of the day the Mets winning or losing a game won’t change my change my life but it’s certainly a lot more fun to watch when they’re winning or at least putting up a fight.
