UPDATED TAPROOM STATUS REGARDING COVID-19

Due to the recent and ongoing outbreak of COVID-19, MKNYC will be temporarily closing the taproom effective today Thursday, March 12th until March 25th (subject to change as conditions do). To be clear: we have not had any member of staff or clientele get sick or test positive for the virus but, out of an abundance of caution, we think it best we do all we can to keep our customers and staff as safe as possible. During our hiatus, we will be doing exceptional deep cleaning as a further safety measure to keep our production facility and taproom hygienic and sanitary. Unfortunately, due to the timing of the taproom closure, we will also be postponing our upcoming events including our 2nd Anniversary Party. Please keep a look out for more info on its rescheduling in the coming weeks. Paint Nite tonight, Bottomless Brunch this Sunday, and all events next week are now canceled. We would like to thank everyone for their understanding at this unprecedented time. We will keep you updated regarding re-opening of the taproom. MLB pushes back Opening Day

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL TO DELAY 2020 OPENING DAY BY AT LEAST TWO WEEKS. Spring Training Games Cancelled As of 4:00 p.m. (ET) Today and WBCQ Games Postponed; MLB Will Continue to Evaluate Ongoing Events and Effects on 2020 Scheduling Following a call with the 30 Clubs, and after consultation with the Major League Baseball Players Association, Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. today announced that MLB has decided to suspend Spring Training games and to delay the start of the 2020 regular season by at least two weeks due to the national emergency created by the coronavirus pandemic. This action is being taken in the interests of the safety and well-being of our players, Clubs and our millions of loyal fans. MLB will continue to evaluate ongoing events leading up to the start of the season. Guidance related to daily operations and workouts will be relayed to Clubs in the coming days. As of 4:00 p.m. (ET) today, forthcoming Spring Training games have been cancelled, and 2020 World Baseball Classic Qualifier games in Tucson, Arizona have been postponed indefinitely. MLB and the Clubs have been preparing a variety of contingency plans regarding the 2020 regular season schedule. MLB will announce the effects on the schedule at an appropriate time and will remain flexible as events warrant, with the hope of resuming normal operations as soon as possible. MLB looking to push start of season back

Wow. This is getting crazier and crazier. All sports either being played in front of empty seats or postponed all together. Movie openings getting pushed back up
to a year and now Gov. Cuomo is banning any gathering over 500 people.

The Media wants to know if the Mets Players are cool with playing with no fans.

Anyone else think that the MLB delays opening day or they have games without fans? I have no idea if this is going to happen or not but the media is starting to ask the players about it.Also the team has been used to playing with almost no fans in the stands in past seasons so it should be okay.

The Mets played their spring training game in front of a crowd at Ballpark of the Palm Beaches with an eye toward Opening Day at Citi Field just over two weeks away.

But around the country and internationally, the coronavirus has forced some leagues to delay season openers, cancel games and bar fans from games that do take place — something Brandon Nimmo hopes doesn’t happen in the majors.

“I don’t love that possibility,’’ Nimmo said. “But obviously, I’m a player in the game and I do what I’m told to do. It’s not something I think anyone in the big leagues imagined playing in front of nobody. We enjoy the fans. They make it fun and they’re the reason we’re here and I get to have this job. I definitely want to see the fans there unless it becomes a huge health risk.’’
