25 game MLB season? Gary Cohen is cool with it.(So am I).

We need to look at the big health picture in this country. When are we going to be safe to go out and have crowds of folks gather in the ballparks and stadiums around the world. It's a very nebulous question and answer. I am for one looking out for the safety of everyone. Fans, players, stadium workers. What is going to be the new normal for us? No one really knows.

Like everyone else, Gary Cohen doesn’t know if there will be a baseball season. The novel coronavirus has postponed it for now, along with all the other professional sports.
But the Mets’ SNY play-by-play announcer believes MLB should hold out as long as possible, even if it means starting as late as September, before canceling the season.
“Everybody hopes that there is some remnants of a season, and to me even if you can’t come back until the middle of September and you play 40 games through the end of October and then a postseason, if that’s safe to do, I’d be fine with that,” he told The Post in a phone interview. “I think some season is better than no season.”

Some disagree, that baseball would be better waiting until 2021 if it can’t get started soon. Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera recently said he doesn’t believe the winner of a 60-game season should be able to call itself a champion.

“I think something is better than nothing, whatever that something might be, even if it’s a 25-game sprint,” said Cohen, who is filling his free time reading, exercising and cooking. “I think it would be different. But it would certainly be better than nothing.”

I have a crazy idea. Why not get he best video game players from each MLB team to play each other on MLB the Show with the teams announcers talking over it. Just have them play so there is content. Have sponsors etc. We have already seen how E-Leagues are big money...

NY POST says MLB might play part of season in Arizona

Putting all 30 teams in the Phoenix area and playing in empty ballparks was among the ideas discussed Monday by Major League Baseball and the players’ association.

The sides held a telephone call to talk about paths forward for a season delayed by the new coronavirus pandemic, people familiar with the discussion told The Associated Press. They spoke on condition of anonymity because no details were announced.

Ideas are still in the early stage, and the Arizona option would have many obstacles to overcome, the people said. Arizona’s advantage is 10 spring training ballparks plus the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Chase Field all within about 50 miles. Florida’s spring training ballparks are spread by as much as 220 miles.

“It allows for immediacy of a schedule, where you might be able to begin it and televise it, provide Major League Baseball to America,” said Scott Boras, baseball’s most prominent agent. “I think players are willing to do what’s necessary because I think they understand the importance of baseball for their own livelihoods and for the interest of our country and providing a necessary product that gives all the people that are isolated enjoyment.”

This could be very interesting. They are talking about having three games a day maybe playing at Chase Field while also playing at the minor league/spring training facilities. I wonder if that would happen. Could it happen? DO we want it to happen?

The 7Line has a great idea to show First Responders our thanks.

We have many first responders in The 7 Line Army, and a lot of them are working around the clock in the heart of this terrible pandemic. It's an enormous job, and the bravery they are displaying is heroic. 

Besides just staying home to help flatten the curve, we can try to bring a little comfort to some of our friends who need it most.

We have three fans in particular who are nurses at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip on Long Island. Katie, Danielle, and Jaime met through work, but have bonded outside their job over many Mets games. They've joining The 7 Line Army on countless occasions at both Citi Field, Spring Training, and on the road. 

Saying thank you is such an understatement right now, and my heart goes out to everyone putting their own health on the line in the face of danger.  

The hospitals are so overrun that the staff has little time to sit and eat. Many local restaurants have stepped in to provide meals, and it's definitely been very helpful. 

So here's what we're going to do. The 7 Line website is up and running, and folks have been shopping here and there (much appreciated), but we haven't been actively promoting much of anything lately. 

What we are going to promote right now though is GIFT CARDS, and every gift card sold will be matched. We'll take that $ and purchase meals that will then be delivered to the girls and their co-workers at Good Samaritan Hospital.
