Jaren Jackson Jr. plays for the Memphis Grizzlies. As a kid he would pirate digital media and never thought he would get busted for it. Guess what? He did. I wonder what he would think now about piracy and not getting money from the NBA selling his jersey because someone made Chinese Knockoffs.

Morning folks. I know you have to be tired of seeing these posts but I am just trying to keep you up to date. We have under 70 tickets total left with less then two months left to QBC 2019 and I don’t want you to get locked out. I am just going to run down what we have announced so far.
State of the Mets Panel- we have Mark Healey from Gotham Baseball hosting a panel discussing what’s going on over at Citi Field and what fans are thinking about.

SNY is bringing the Shea Anything and Baseball Night In NY to the QBC in panel form.

Ed Kranepool will be doing a player panel hosted by NY1’s Roger Clark.

Edgardo Alfonzo will be doing a player panel hosted by Matt Cerrone.

Keith Hernandez will be dong a player panel hosted by Pete McCarthy.

All three players will be doing signings as well.

Wait a second. The Pitcher the Mets are getting in trade has bone spurs??

What? Edwin Diaz has had bone spurs his entire career and nothing has happened yet? ...Let's read part of this article from the NY POST.

Six and a half years later, Edwin Diaz stands as the top find of his amateur draft subclass, the third round of 2012. There isn’t a close second.

Which makes it all the more ironic that, of the 33 players popped in that round, Diaz drew the smallest signing bonus thanks to a medical concern that has yet to impact him. But it surely will show up on his medical records as the Mets review them in the trade discussions that will likely end with Diaz and Robinson Cano moving from Seattle to Queens.

According to Noel Sevilla, the scout who recommended and signed Diaz, the two sides had agreed on the slot figure of $485,000 (the Puerto Rico native Diaz was the 98th player selected overall) before the right-hander’s physical examination revealed a bone spur in his right elbow. The bonus consequently dropped to $300,000. Diaz’s agent, Edwin Rodriguez, confirmed this turn of events.

The bone spur has never bothered Diaz, Rodriguez said, and the 24-year-old has never been placed on the disabled list in the majors.

“It can always present itself as a problem at any point,” Dr. Umer Dasti, a sports medicine orthopedic surgeon at Ridgewood Orthopedic Group in New Jersey, said Saturday in a telephone interview. “The fact that it hasn’t presented itself is a good sign.”

So let me get this straight. The NY METS, who are not known at all for having season where there isn't something that goes awry medically are rolling the dice on a closer with bone spurs? Anyone else think this is playing with fire? I wasn't thrilled with this deal to begin with. I hope I am wrong about this deal and the Mets aren't a laughing stock team next year and everything works out.

Volunteer baseball coach needs a kidney

My friend Jessie sent this my way about a volunteer baseball coach who needs a new kidney.

 Westfield High School volunteer baseball coach Mike Cappiello is in desperate need of a kidney donor.
Since 2015, Cappiello has undergone five surgeries for the access in his arm to facilitate the Hemodialysis that he undergoes three times a week, for three and a half hours each session. These grueling sessions begin at 5:30 a.m. and leave Cappiello spent, he said.

“Every day I come from dialysis I’m mentally and physically drained,” Cappiello said. “I pretty much eat breakfast and then take a one- to two-hour nap before I can even start my day.”

His days currently entail working on an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University with a focus in IT management. He also works for a CPA office in Union and, with baseball season beginning, he will be back at Westfield High School as a volunteer baseball coach. Through it all, he still enjoys the time he gets to be with his girlfriend and friends.
