Protests in Sports

I threw on my Giants jacket that I got last year and thought nothing of it. I got to work today and one of the crew members on another show started saying to me, “That’s right, where your jacket, don’t be afraid to show you are going to watch the NFL.” Honestly, I don’t really care about the NFL. I find football almost as boring as soccer. If it’s on and I’m flipping through the channels I might hit it on for a second, but I’m not frothing at the mouth to watch these games. But, this whole convo made me think about the protests during the national anthem.

I don’t care. Not that I don’t care about the reason behind it. But I don’t care what athletes or celebrities think about politics on a bigger level. On a personal level it’s fine and when I can have discussions one on one it’s different thing. Folks want to protest before a game, go ahead. You want to protest at an award show go ahead. Hell, if you want to protest in the streets in a march, go ahead and do that. Just make sure that march doesn’t cause any ambulances/fire trucks/police to not get to an emergency and save lives. Folks want to protest the protesters do that to. It’s everyone’s right to do so.

Game Used: Citi Field Home Plate

Citi Field home plate, pulled on April 11, 2012 at the end of the first homestand of the season.

During that homestand the Mets went 4-2, RA Dickey had his first victory of his Cy Young season, David Wright hit a HR, and Lucas Duda hit 2 HRs

Home plates are difficult to come by and start at $500 if purchased from the team

Mets Staff Changes (Ray Ramirez Gone!)

METS ANNOUNCE STAFF CHANGES


FLUSHING, N.Y., October 3, 2017 – The New York Mets today announced the following staff changes.

Terry Collins has accepted the position of Special Assistant to General Manager Sandy Alderson.

Dan Warthen, who has been the Mets Pitching Coach since 2008, will not return as New York’s Pitching Coach, and has been offered another role in the organization. Bench Coach Dick Scott, First Base Coach Tom Goodwin, Bullpen Coach Ricky Bones will be given permission to speak to other teams, pending the selection of a new manager.

The Mets will retain coaches Kevin Long and Pat Roessler along with Third Base Coach Glenn Sherlock who is already under contract for 2018.

Ray Ramirez, who has been the Mets Head Trainer since the 2005 season, will not return in 2018. The rest of the training and conditioning staff will remain with the club for the 2018 season.

Game Used: Gary Carter Cleats

Nike manufactured cleats with blue and white trim. Player number “8” is inscripted on the back of both cleats in blue marker. Carter signed the inside of the left cleat and the outside of the right cleat in blue marker. The bottom of both cleats are deteriorating and starting to separate from the cleats. These cleats are properly tagged, were presented to us as game-used and in our opinion show excellent use. 

Comes with full letter JSA COA as well as Grey Flannel.
