Keith Hernandez Day

My fandom with the Mets started in 1984. At least thats when I can remember going to my first Mets game. The first player I really was aware of was Keith Hernandez. Why was I aware of him? Was it because of the way he fielded? Hit? His personality? Nope. It was because he was the only other Keith I knew of besides myself. Of course he became my favorite player because of that. Then as I got a little older and started appreciating baseball and the "good" players, Keith Hernandez solidified his spot as my favorite player, especially after 1986. I am glad the new Mets regime is embracing its history and their former players. Congrats to Keith Hernandez for getting his number retired by the Mets today. You deserve it.
