No Captains for the Mets.
From the NY Post
Mets owner Steve Cohen said Monday that as long as he owns the team, the title “captain” won’t be bestowed on a player.
“There will never be a captain,” Cohen said.
“Since I’ve been sitting in this chair, we have been pretty consistent with the captain, and there’s a reason we haven’t named one,” manager Carlos Mendoza said. “The way I see it, the way we see it, is we have a bunch of guys there that are part of that leadership group. We lost a few guys that were part of that leadership group and then we have gained some guys who have done that.“I think when you’re talking about a major league locker room, you need to have not only one guy, but a few guys. That is what makes teams great, so it’s nothing new for us.”

Cohen isn't wrong. The Captain thing is overblown by Mets fans. I was laughing las season when Mets fans swore that Lindor was going to be named captain and then were whining over it when it didn't happen. Why does any baseball team need a captain? I fell it's usually a gesture by ownership to a player that they want to give an honor to help with the feelings between ownership and that player. "Hey we want you to resign with us, we know you like the money and the years, but how does being the captain of this team sound?"
