I HAD AN IDEA...

For some reason I was going through Ebay and came across a Wilmer Flores shirt or something,I can't remember what it was, but it got me thinking about a TV commercial idea. A kid goes up to Wilmer on a field and says to him, "I hear you just got traded." Wilmer responds with not again and starts to tear up, mimicking the scene from this past season when he was told by a fan he was traded. Crying and dejected, Wilmer starts to walk away and passes by a few kids trading baseball cards. "I can't believe you pulled back the trade for Flores",says one kid. The other responds with," I really like him and he belongs with my team". Wilmer quickly wipes his eyes and goes phew... Now I know this would never happen but it made me laugh to myself for a good half an hour.

ZAC BROWN BAND TO PERFORM AT CITI FIELD FRIDAY, AUGUST 19

FLUSHING, N.Y., February 29, 2016 – The New York Mets and Live Nation today announced that the multiple-Grammy winning Zac Brown Band will perform at Citi Field Friday, August 19 as part of their “Black Out The Sun” 2016 Tour. Tickets will go on sale Friday, March 11 at 10:00 a.m. online at mets.com/zbb and by phone at 718-507-TIXX. The tour’s name is inspired by a lyric from "Tomorrow Never Comes" off their latest album ‘JEKYLL + HYDE’. Drake White & The Big Fire are direct support for Zac Brown Band. The “BLACK OUT THE SUN” tour announcement comes on the heels of the three-time GRAMMY-winner’s largest North American tour to date. This included two history-making performances - a first ever sold-out, three-night run at Fenway Park, and a concert at Coors Field along with performances at Wrigley Field, Nationals Park, Citi Field, Comerica Park and Citizen's Bank Park. Released this past April, ‘JEKYLL + HYDE’ (Southern Ground/John Varvatos Records/Big Machine Label Group/Republic Records) debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart, earning the GRAMMY Award-winning band its third consecutive #1, and is officially certified gold by the RIAA. Zac Brown Band also recently earned a 2016 ACM nomination for “Vocal Group of the Year.” Zac Brown Band will be returning to Citi Field for the second consecutive year following two shows in the summer of 2015. The band will be the third high-profile musical act to perform stand-alone concerts at Citi Field in the summer of 2016 as Beyonce is scheduled for shows on Tuesday, June 7 and Wednesday, June 8 followed by Dead & Company on Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26. NEW BOOK: HOWARD MEGDAL

Howard Megdal has a new book out about the Cardinals. Bergino Baseball Clubhouse is having an event for it. The St. Louis Cardinals have experienced the kind of success that is rare in baseball. They not only win, but do so with an apparently bottomless pool of talent, one that is mostly homegrown. “The Cardinal Way” -- a term that has come to represent many things to fans, media, and other organizations, from an ironclad code of conduct to the team’s cutting-edge use of statistics and analytics, and a farm system that has transformed baseball. In the spirit of Moneyball, baseball journalist Howard Megdal takes fans behind the scenes and off the field. Megdal reveals how the players are assessed and groomed using an unrivaled player development system. He tells an in-depth, fascinating story about a consistently good franchise, the business of sports in the 21st century, and a team that has learned how to level the playing field, turning in season after successful season. Join us in the Clubhouse on Thursday, March 3. RSVP required to attend...

TWITTER CONVO WITH KEN DAVIDOFF ABOUT LUCAS DUDA FAN "HATRED"

Had a twitter conversation with Ken Davidoff. I still don't get where he has talked to Mets Fans that hate Duda. The other thing is it seems he really hates the7line. I really don't get the persona these beat writers have on twitter with fans. I wonder if Walter Cronkite would have been like some of these guys if he was alive for twitter.

METS FANS HATE DUDA?

I have been seeing a lot of tweets about that NY Post article that supposedly everyone that's a Mets fan hates Lucas Duda.

We all do? I didn't know that. I do know that as fans a lot of us might get frustrated with how streaky he is and how he sometimes makes a bad fielding play now and then but I don't think there is hate for him.

Furthermore, the reporter(not going to mention his name) that even asked Duda about the fans hating him is clearly trying to get a story out of a non story. Why? Because main stream news media sucks. There is rarely any journalistic integrity being displayed by the press nowadays. Whether it has to do with politics or sports, it's all about tabloid news now and not reporting real news.

Rant over about that, back to Dudahategate. I like Duda. I also love the wefollowDuda on Instagram run by Granderson. I have not met one fan that hates Duda. I actually know quite a few that love him. So, in my opinion that reporter is dead wrong. I hear everyone hates the Post Reporter. I wonder how he feels about that.

Duda is never going to be a superstar, but he will be a streaky player who plays hard during his career. And by the way did anyone notice last year Duda didn't seem like he is lumbering around the base paths when he is running now? Not quite gliding but not lumbering.

DID I SHOW YOU THIS ALSO?

Can't remember if I showed you guys this or not. Yep. It's another 3d rendering of the Goon. Had my fav scanned at the World Series and was able to keep ordering cool things like this. And yes when I was writing some of these posts, it was quiet in Metsland. I got home from work at 7am from working overnight. Hopefully, when I pass out, no crazy stories happen.

MiLB ISOTOPES PROMO NIGHT: BETTER CALL SAUL

I started collecting minor league jerseys a few years ago, mostly Star Wars but also have Ghostbusters, Zombies, and some superhero ones. This just popped on my Goon sense. I don't know if I would grab this or not. The Isotopes are doing a Better Call Saul Night with jersey.

"Fans of Albuquerque-based "Better Call Saul" better circle August 6 on their calendars, as the Isotopes will don special jerseys featuring Jimmy McGill (aka Saul Goodman). Fans will have a chance to go home with these unique jerseys by participating in a silent auction."- from the Isotopes website.

METS: OPENING DAY MIGHT BE OVERSOLD

I was perusing through twitter last night and one of my buddies was saying how the Mets screwed him over. There is a page group of fans that bought a whole bunch of 20 game ticket packages to sit together and now their rep is telling them that the Mets had oversold Opening Day and they will be split up. My buddy swears the ticket rep told them that wouldn't be the case when they bought the plans and they would be all sitting together. Fast forward to today and my friend got a letter that said they families that bought tickets together would be split up from sitting with each other. Now, the Mets do say when you buy you plan that there is a good shot that you aren't going to be sitting in "your" seats come opening day, but you will have seats that are of similar value. This is another thing that isn't happening in this case. The email said some of the plan holders have to be downgraded seat wise and that their accounts would be refunded the difference in the amount of the seats. Mets if this is true and it was me that this was happening to, I would be going ape sh*t on you guys. You offer a product. I pay for that product. You and I enter into a contract for use of that product. You change the rules of using that product. That seems to me a breech of that contract that we had. That isn't cool of you to breach that contract, especially if it's on a mistake made by you guys. I am waiting to see the outcome about this issue and hopefully it gets resolved. So, before I do my usual COME ON METS!!!! I am giving them a few days to figure this out. Mets might be watching Empire Strikes Back a little too much.

MONDAY: FEB 22, 2016

It was a beautiful day on Monday, wasn't it? The birds were chirping, there was hardly a breeze, the sun was just warm enough that you can tell spring is just around the corner. The weather made me antsy. I wanted to throw around a baseball at work with some of my coworkers. I wanted to be in Flushing sitting with some friends talking about the game we were watching. I wanted to be playing a pick up game of softball. I just wanted to hang and do something baseball related. I was thinking back to the time when I worked as a vendor at Shea. I sucked at it. You had to call a number each day to see what color the game was going to be. RED meant it was a small crowd, so they didn't need a lot of vendors.Yellow meant it was crowded and needed some additional vendors but without seniority, there was a chance that you wouldn't work. Then there was green, which meant all hands on deck. I always wished for yellow. It would give me an excuse to show up to Shea and when I didn't get picked to work, I would go buy a ticket and go watch the game. That's how I have been feeling out work the last few days. YELLOW, YELLOW, YELLOW. I'm at work in body but not in spirit. I am just thinking about the Mets right now(not 100% true.NY Rangers are on my mind also.)I have been just wanting to toss a ball around at work and just soak in the sun and camaraderie. I really can't wait for games to start up here in April. This should be fun..
