All Treat No Trick- QBC Guest Number Two Zach Thornton

Hey everyone,

Big one for the QBC. Zac Thornton, the Mets’ young lefty who stepped up when we needed it in 2026, is coming in to do a panel and sign autographs.

Fifth-round pick out of Grand Canyon, he got the call in May when Clay Holmes went down. stuck around after the July recall, and put up 15 starts: 5-6, 3.42 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and just 18 walks in 84.1 innings. The control was the real deal, and he showed he can stick in a big-league rotation. Not a flashy top prospect coming in, but he delivered when the Mets needed an arm.

Now you get to hear from him in person and grab an autograph at the QBC on Saturday December 5th at Four Points Flushing..

Is the Metropolitan Park Casino at Citi Field being stalled for now?

From the NY Post-

It’s a high-stakes game of Flushing Hold ’em.

An obscure city panel threw a wrench into plans for a new casino at Citi Field when it on Tuesday tabled approval of the facility’s design after angry residents, including members of the Democratic Socialists of America, flooded a meeting with objections.

The nine-member Public Design Commission was supposed to only review how the new casino and its grounds were supposed to look and accommodate the public — but critics at the meeting attacked the project by Mets owner Steve Cohen over objections to gambling and how it would affect the area.

And even though those kinds of complaints were not supposed to be entertained by the board because the casino already has full state approval, the commission unanimously voted to table action on approving the designs, thus potentially delaying the project.

The $8 billion Cohen-Hard Rock Metropolitan Park casino is expected to open in 2030. It’s not clear how long the tabling of the design approval will delay the project, though reps for the casino tried to downplay the effect.

Read more here.

Done reading back at the NY POST? Cool. Here is what I am thinking. Where were all these folks when the Casino Plans were first mentioned? Where were they when the Casino was up for approval? It is like everyone woke up once the Casino got the go ahead. Now they are trying to stop a runaway train. What is the actual end goal? One could surmise yes, it is not to get a casino built by Flushing Meadows Park, by just built affordable housing on 126th street and by two sports stadiums that are supposed to be family friendly. One could also surmise that these groups waited for the Casino to get approval so they could try to hold up construction so they could get concessions(whatever they think is right) for their groups. If these groups did care(not saying they didn't or did) why didn't they try to stop this all along?

Thanks to Mark for putting this on my radar.

Citi Field Seats up for sale at Amazin Memorabilia

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to own a piece of Citi Field! MLB Authenticated Citi Field seats are now available for purchase and are the perfect addition to any memorabilia collection. Each listing includes two seats that require assembly. Seats are sold solely for sports memorabilia display purposes. Limited quantities available.

Now this leads to the speculation that the Mets might be changing the seat colors to fit more along the lines of what Shea Stadium had with Orange, Blue, Red, and Green seats. Do I see that happening? Nope. It's easier to hide empty seats with darker green colors than with bright orange and blue colors. I think it's been almost 20 yrs since the ballpark opened and seats need to be refreshed. There were a lot of broken seats, worn out looking seats and plenty of uncomfortable seats around the park. I wouldn't be surprised if the new seats were branded Metropolitan Park.
