METS NOTES

Mets: New York has thrown consecutive shutouts for the first time since August 11-12, 2015 vs. Colorado...The Mets are 14-8 in their last 22 games, 14-11 in August and 14-13 in their last 27 home games.
• New York has blanked the Nationals in consecutive games for the third time since the team moved to Washington (12th time overall, last done on October 4, 2015 and May 17, 2016).
• Marks the first home series win over Washington since September 2-4, 2016.
• The Mets lead the season series vs. Washington, 8-6...Have not won the season series since 2015, when New York went 11-8 against the Nationals.
• The Mets are 26-23 since July 1.

Mets Pitching: Has thrown 19.0-consecutive scoreless innings...Has allowed three or fewer runs in eight-straight games...That is the longest streak of its kind since the team did so in eight-consecutive games from July 5-17, 2015...Additionally, the Mets’ nine-game streak allowing eight or fewer hits is the longest by New York pitching since the Mets did so in a franchise-record-tying 13-straight contests from April 3-19, 2007.
• Mets starting pitchers have posted a 1.40 ERA (eight earned runs/51.1 innings) in the team’s last eight games since August 18...Mets starters have thrown 15.0-straight scoreless innings dating to the fifth inning of Jacob deGrom’s start on August 23 vs. the Giants.
• Mets relievers have combined to post a collective 2.51 ERA (22 earned runs/79.0 innings) this month.

Zack Wheeler (7.0 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 4 K): Has won a career-best seven-straight decisions and is unbeaten in his last 11 starts, the longest unbeaten streak of his career...During his seven-game winning streak, owns a 1.68 ERA (10 earned runs/53.2 innings) in eight starts with 51 strikeouts and 12 walks...In his 11-straight starts without a loss, his ERA is 1.88 (15 earned runs/71.2 innings).
• His seven-game winning streak is tied for the fourth-longest in the majors this season and is tied for the longest-active run in the majors (also, Boston’s Chris Sale and Colorado’s Scott Oberg)...His 11-start unbeaten streak is tied for the longest-active streak in the majors (also, San Francisco’s Dereck Rodriguez).

Amed Rosario (2-4, HR, RBI, 2 R): Belted a solo shot to give the Mets a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning...Was his first homer since game one of a doubleheader on August 16 at Philadelphia.
• Is 22-70 (.314) over his last 16 games with three doubles, three homers, 13 RBI, 14 runs scored and five steals.

Jeff McNeil (2-4, SB): Singled in the first to extend his career-best hitting streak to 10 games (18-38, .474)...Has hit safely in each of his last 12 starts and is hitting .415 (22-53) in his last 14 games overall.
• Has 35 hits through his first 31 career games...That's tied for the fourth-most hits by a Mets player who began his career with New York through career game No. 31...Only Mike Vail (41), Alex Ochoa (39) and David Wright (36) have had more.
• His 10-game hitting streak is the longest this season by a Mets rookie...T.J. Rivera had an 11-gamer from June 29-July 16 last season as a rookie.

Todd Frazier (1-3, HR, RBI, R): Went deep for the third time in his last four games...Has five homers and 15 RBI in his last 19 games...During that span, is hitting .319 (22-69).
• Since his first full season (2012), his 168 homers as a third baseman are tied with Kyle Seager’s 168 for the second-most in the majors (trails only Nolan Arenado, 178).

Jay Bruce (1-3, 2B): Doubled in the second inning, his second-straight at-bat with an extra-base hit (also, last night’s two-run homer)...Has gone 2-7 with a double, a homer and two RBI in two games since returning from the 10-Day Disabled List.

Michael Conforto (1-4, RBI): Has 22 RBI since the All-Star break, most on the team...Is hitting .277 (36-130) with 14 extra-base hits and 23 runs scored in that span (35 games).


WASHINGTON NOTES

Nationals: For the fourth time in franchise history, the Nationals have been shut out in three-consecutive games…All three previous occurrences came in the Montreal Expos era (last, April 13-15, 2004)...Washington suffered its 14th shutout loss of the season, tied for the most such defeats in the NL (tied for the second-most in the majors)...Fell to 4-9 since August 12.
• The Nats are 6-8 against the Mets this season and 4-5 at Citi Field.

Tanner Roark (6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R/1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K): Saw his five-game winning streak come to an end...Is 5-1 with a 1.61 ERA (eight earned runs/44.2 innings) in his last seven games.
• Is 8-4 with a 2.96 ERA (32 earned runs/97.1 innings) in 16 career starts against the Mets.

Trea Turner (1-2, BB, SB): Stole his MLB-leading 33rd base of the season...Nine of those 33 have come vs. the Mets (has no more than five stolen bases against any other opponent in 2018)...Ties the Reds’ José Peraza for the most steals by one player against any single opponent this season (he has nine vs. the Cubs)...His nine steals against the Mets this season are the most by any player in a season since Florida’s Juan Pierre swiped 10 bags vs. New York in 2003.
