Cespedes batting second and The Athletic Mets beat Writer seems to be MIA.

PORT ST. LUCIE — There is a big change going on with the Mets that is not getting much attention.

Slugger Yoenis Cespedes, who has spent most of his career batting third, fourth or fifth, is hitting second this spring in Mickey Callaway’s lineup.

MG- How long do we think this sticks? I bet he slides back to 4/5 eventually even though he is “cool” with batting second.

Fundamentals need work?

“We have some work to do,” Callaway said following the Mets’ 5-2 loss to the Astros at First Data Field. “Our fundamentals, we have to throw the ball where we want to throw it. We have got to do things a little bit better than we have been doing. We had a little talk about that this morning and you have to throw the ball where it’s supposed to go. You have to run out balls and that is going to start happening.”

MG- At this level of the sport, shouldn’t you be able to have your fundamentals in order? They are after all fundamentals...

Guess the Mets didn’t play Saturday or Sunday. Also seems like there wasn’t going on off the field. And whatever happened to Tim Britton? Haven’t heard from him since March 2.
