Keith Hernandez is back with SNY

From the NY Post

Hernandez, according to sources, has agreed to a three-year contract with SNY that will keep him in the booth as part of the longest-tenured broadcast trio in MLB history. Hernandez’s return was first reported Monday by Boomer Esiason on WFAN.

Wow. That felt like it was never going to happen. Keith is the glue that holds that broadcast team together. He makes Gary and Ron stay on their toes because you never know what he might say or do while on the air. His crankiness and “Geez” when the games are taking too long are easily some of the best parts of watching the game. Oh Yeah. He knows baseball too!

Glad ya back Keith!

Mets Big Football Event Commercial

For almost a decade I worked in the realm of television commercials. I know how the sausage is made behind the scenes and I have even worked on a commercial or two that has landed on Championship Sunday. While it is cool that the Mets and Steve Cohen decided to throw down the gauntlet with an ad letting fans know about ticket sales, this commercial isn’t it. This doesn’t feel like it is a “BIG” commercial. The lighting, the editing, even the copy all just feels flat. Is it a good commercial to run on SNY, YouTube, Hulu as a local ad? 100 percent yes it is. But it is not a commercial that is worth the price tag of tv ad time during the Eagles?Chiefs game. The Mets could have poked fun at Philly. They could have trotted out old pics and videos of Pat Mahomes as a kid on the field of Shea Stadium when his dad was pitching for them.

Mets if you wanted to use the Mets ticketing office, you could have done a parody of The Office. There could have been a Ghostbuster parody playing off of Senga’s ghost pitch. How about a Seinfeld parody. There were so many different ways to make this feel like a BIG DEAL. The biggest deal that I can possibly see being made about this is that The Mets spent a lot of BIG money on ad time for a small commercial.

I again applaud the initiative taken for this but I am disappointed in the execution.

Ep. 85 Mets Add Carlos Beltran to the Front Office

After he reportedly turned down a job on Buck's staff earlier in the offseason, Beltran accepts a position as special assistant to Mets GM Billy Eppler. Plus, with the WBC on the horizon, many players have reported early to Spring Training, including Nimmo & Baty. Remember to subscribe & turn notifications on so you never miss an episode!

METS PARTNER WITH USA BASEBALL AND AMTRAK TO EXPAND THE ‘FUN AT BAT’ PROGRAM

NEW YORK METS PARTNER WITH USA BASEBALL AND AMTRAK TO EXPAND THE ‘FUN AT BAT’ PROGRAM ACROSS NEW YORK CITY TRI-STATE AREA

The Mets have implemented this program into 50 schools in Queens, reaching approximately 25,000 students, since launching in September.

FLUSHING, N.Y., February 8, 2023 – The New York Mets, in partnership with USA Baseball and Amtrak, have expanded the “Fun At Bat” program across the New York City Tri-State area.

The “Fun At Bat” program brings young athletes a unique baseball and softball experience. Through this program, students are exposed to an introductory level of the game including fielding, throwing, and batting, while placing an emphasis on character development, functional movement, literacy, active play, and fun.

This free program is available to all schools throughout the New York City Tri-State area (grades K-5). Participating schools will receive quality equipment, Mets-branded “USA Baseball Championship Principles” books, teacher curriculums co-developed with SHAPE America, and other resources at no cost. Physical education teachers will also have access to free online courses, which assist in teaching the fundamentals of the program.

Amtrak’s partnership with the ‘Fun At Bat’ program supports its commitment to community outreach beyond company boundaries. Amtrak continuously cultivates relationships with a variety of organizations that benefit the communities they serve.

The New York Mets are encouraging all qualifying K-5 school administrators and physical education teachers to go online, learn more, and register their school for the free program by visiting Mets.com/FunAtBat.
