A familiar face is back with the Brooklyn Cyclones

METS NAME KATIE POTHIER EXECUTIVE VP/CHIEF LEGAL OFFICER
FLUSHING, N.Y., March 30, 2022 – The New York Mets today announced that they have named Katie Pothier Executive Vice President & Chief Legal Officer.
Pothier joins the Mets after serving as the Texas Rangers Executive Vice President & General Counsel since September 2016. She has over 25 years of legal experience and enters her 14th season working in professional baseball.
“Katie is very talented and will be a great leader in our organization,” said Mets President Sandy Alderson. “Her legal and baseball experience make her a welcomed addition to our team.”
Pothier previously worked as the Executive Vice President & General Counsel for the San Diego Padres from 2002-2010.
She has had the unique experience of serving as the head legal officer for two teams through construction of new ballparks (PETCO Park in 2004 and Globe Life Field in 2020).
Pothier serves on Major League Baseball’s Diversity Pipeline Program Committee, an initiative focused on improving the recruitment and development of diverse and female employees for leadership roles in baseball operations departments for major league clubs.
With the Rangers, Pothier oversaw all legal functions for the team and its affiliates, including REV Entertainment. She also had extensive interaction with the Rangers’ baseball, finance, business operations, minor league affiliates, real estate development and the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. Pothier was an important advisor on all aspects of the team’s baseball and non-baseball business as well as its many development projects in the Arlington Entertainment District. Pothier advised the team on all corporate matters, joint ventures, acquisitions, organizational structuring, strategic planning, risk management, international affairs and litigation.
Before working for the Rangers, Pothier spent six years as a Partner with Wilson Turner Kosmo LLP in San Diego. Prior to joining the Padres, she worked in private practice specializing in civil litigation and white-collar criminal litigation.
