Gofundme for former Mets Security Sean Dean

I knew both Shannon Forde and Sean Dean. Shannon was the Den Mother for the bloggers back in the day and she really looked out for us. She treated us like we mattered as fans and a conduit to other Mets fans. She was loved by everyone in the organization and she was someone who was taken from us way too early. I remember there were fundraisers for her family. The money raised was to go towards college finds and expenses the family might have run into. I do not remember if the Mets did anything money wise, but if they did, I am sure it was mostly kept quiet.

Sean Dean. I met him through my friends MJ and Nancy and he was a super guy. Always helpful and nice to me. Would give a wave from the field during BP and the few convos we had were fun. Jay Horwitz was a friend and colleague to Sean and wanted to do something nice to help Sean's family out in this sad time. People on Twitter assumed the family is in dire straits and that the Gofundme is set up because of this. These same folks are saying the Mets should be held accountable for not taking care of Sean's family. Who knows what the Mets have of have not done for Sean's family. Stop jumping to conclusions. Jay set this up to try to make sure that his friend's kids have money for college or any other necessity that they might need independent from the Mets organization. It's not like he set it up to replace a PS4 that was stolen out of his apartment like some other folks have done in the past. Don't make this about what you "think" the Mets organization has or has not done.

If you feel so inlined, the link for the Gofundme page is in Jay's embedded tweet.

Jared Porter officially the former GM of the Mets

Jared Porter is now the former General Manager of the NY Mets. Fans were trying to figure out why he wasn't fired last night as soon as the story came to light. The Mets had to fact check the story and make sure they buttoned up all the legal dealings with firing someone with a contract.

Twitter responses to Jared Porter unsolicited lewd texts.

And let's get the temp of twitter. I grabbed tweets from Mets fans from all across the board. This is the kind of stuff that we as Mets fans thought we were going to get past with the new regime.

That didn't take long. Mets New GM is being reviewed over past unsolicited lewd texts/pics.

So who was the second choice as Mets GM during the GM Search? The off season was going so well and it looked like the Mets had a competent General Manager in the front office under Sandy Alderson. Then this came to light. I wonder how the Mets are going to recover from these texts from Porter. I want to see how Cohen is going to handle twitter comment on this now.

From Espn.com

In a statement to ESPN Monday night, Mets president Sandy Alderson said: "I have spoken directly with Jared Porter regarding events that took place in 2016 of which we were made aware tonight for the first time. Jared has acknowledged to me his serious error in judgment, has taken responsibility for his conduct, has expressed remorse and has previously apologized for his actions. The Mets take these matters seriously, expect professional and ethical behavior from all of our employees, and certainly do not condone the conduct described in your story. We will follow up as we review the facts regarding this serious issue."

About two hours after sending the photos, Porter sent more messages, the first five of which read:

"?"

"Are you there?"

"?"

"Mad at me?"

":-("

The woman said she did not know how to respond.

"Being alone in a different country made it tougher," she told ESPN. "I didn't know who to trust and rely on."

She had shown the sexually explicit image to a player from her home country and an interpreter, who helped craft the response she sent to Porter: "This is extremely inappropriate, very offensive, and getting out of line. Could you please stop sending offensive photos or msg."

Porter responded in a series of messages: "Oh I'm sorry."

"I will stop."

"I really apologize." "Please let me know if you ever need anything work wise."

The next day, he texted again: "I'm sorry." A day later, he shared a photo from Dodger Stadium. It was the last message, the woman said, that Porter sent.

She considered alerting the Cubs but said she was concerned about possible repercussions. That summer, she said, she had developed a serious sleeping problem and was wracked with anxiety about whether she had made the wrong decision in coming to the U.S. Eventually, the woman said, she told her bosses, who referred her to a lawyer and connected her with a Cubs employee from her home country.

Porter wasn't the first Mets GM to have sexual harassment issues and this one also had an affair with a Production Assistant. Click here to read the story.
