Mets "Might have borrowed an idea" from a fan without credit.

This doesn't surprise me. It has happened to me quite a few times in the last decade.

This from over at Metspolice.com.

What is it Mulder? I don’t have my reading glasses.
Looks like the Mets might have maybe perhaps possibly cribbed an idea from a Uni Watch reader.Read it to me Mulder.
I can’t do that Scully, that bad blog etiquette.  But you can read all about it on Uni Watch. What’s the highlight Mulder?
UW tweeted about an original idea for the Mets to tribute Tom Seaver and golly gee the Mets came up with it all on their own!
Read up on all of it here on MP and here on UniWatch

Mets fans, please sign this petition to have the Mets wear Seaver patch in 2021

The Mets dropped the ball before with not having a stature up years ago for Tom Seaver. Let's make some noise to make sure they don't drop the ball again. It was a nice gesture for the Mets to have a patch on their jerseys for the rest of the year, but they should also wear them next year during the 2021 season.

Mets wearing this 41 patch in honor of Tom Seaver.

Fans not allowed at pitchers mound in Citi Field Parking lot.

Guys, I am one of the first ones to kill the Mets when they do something stupid to the fans, but this isn’t on them for a change. Want to kill the Wilpons for not having a Seaver Statue not erected at least a decade go ahead. But MLB has protocols for Covid-19 going on right now so teams can play. They don’t want fans to be congregating at Citi Field. The entire parking main parking lot is closed off and only the lots by McFaddens and Lot G are open for front office and necessary workers.

I get that fans wanted to show respect to The Franchise but the lockdown over Covid-19 is beyond their control. I was there right before the season doing an interview on NY1 and the Mets and Mets security even after giving approval for the News Team to be there were worried about where they filmed. You can see the fencing here. You guys had a nice idea but like I said, can't kill the Mets on this one.

Steve Cohen might have to pay more in taxes as Mets owner

The big sports folks should be paying a tad more but we all know they will charge us more.

From the Sunnyside Post

“Queens Council Members Costa Constantinides, Jimmy Van Bramer and Antonio Reynoso are among a group of elected officials who want New York sports arenas and franchisees to pay more taxes to help the cash-strapped city get through the current economic crisis.

Nine city council members–including the three from Queens– have called on the governor and mayor to demand that arenas pay property taxes once fans are allowed back into sports stadiums.

The council members said that the sports arenas and franchises have benefited from an unbalanced tax system and have paid little into city coffers – despite relying on public services like mass transportation to help run their organizations.

As a result, they said, the city has lost out on billions of dollars over the past number of decades that have could have been spent on education, sanitation, and other public services.”
