ROSTER MOVES: Prior to tonight's game, the Mets recalled RHP Chris Flexen and catcher Tomás Nido from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League, optioned LHP Buddy Baumann to Las Vegas (AAA) and designated catcher Jose Lobaton for assignment...Flexen will wear #64 and Nido will wear #3 and both will be available for tonight’s game vs. Arizona...Flexen, 23, was 3-3 with a 3.40 ERA (15 earned runs/39.2 innings) in eight games, seven starts for the 51s this season...He allowed 48 hits, issued 11 walks and struck out 31...He made his major league debut last year and went 3-6 with a 7.88 ERA (42 earned runs/48.0 innings) in 14 games, nine starts for the Mets...Nido, 24, began the year at Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League and hit .278 (5-18) with five RBI in five games for the Rumble Ponies...He was recalled on April 11 and was with the team until he was optioned to Las Vegas (AAA) on May 9...Nido hit .135 (5-37) with one double and one RBI in 17 games for the Mets this year...Nido batted .300 (3- 10) in five games with the Mets in 2017.
METSCELLANEOUS: The Mets are 3-2 in their last five games, including 2-1 on this homestand...The Mets are 4-6 in their last 10 games and after starting the year 11-1, the club has gone 10-18... New York is 9-11 at home.
A ROYAL CONGRATS: New York would like to congratulate Mets fan Prince Harry on his marriage today to Meghan Markle... Prince Harry threw out the first pitch at Citi Field before a Twins- Mets game on June 26, 2010...Prince Harry was in NYC to forge greater links between British and American organizations to help injured military personnel.
16 K, 0 BB GAME: Last night New York's pitching staff combined to strike out 16 batters without issuing a walk...It was the fifth time in franchise history, the Mets staff had 16 or more strikeouts without issuing a walk...It was last done on October 3, 2015 vs. Washington in game two of a doubleheader (18 strikeouts, 0 walks).
deGROMINATE: Jacob deGrom tied his career-high with 13 strikeouts and did not issue a walk...He was the sixth pitcher in franchise history to notch 13 or more strikeouts without issuing a walk, joining Tom Seaver (twice), Dwight Gooden (twice), Sid Fernandez (twice), David Cone and Chris Capuano...DeGrom has allowed one or fewer runs in 52 of his 116 career starts (45 percent), the most such starts since 1908 in a pitcher's first 116 games...Last night was deGrom's 24th career double-digit strikeout game, tied for the fifth-most in team history and the sixth-most in major league history through a pitcher's first 116 career games.

HONORING RUSTY STAUB: Mets Hall of Famer Rusty Staub passed away on March 29 at age 73... The Mets will wear a patch on the right sleeve on their home and away uniforms during the 2018 season honoring Staub...A six-time All-Star, he had 2,716 hits and 292 homers during his 23-year career.

deGrom’s Strikeouts: Tied a career high with 13 strikeouts (third time in regular season, last done April 15, 2017 at Miami)...Recorded at least 10 strikeouts in a game for the third time this season and the 24th time in his career...The 24 double-digit strikeout games are tied for fifth-most by a Met in team history with Jerry Koosman...Sid Fernandez is fourth with 31 double-digit strikeout games...DeGrom recorded his 24th career 10+K game in his 116th career-game...Only Dwight Gooden (33 double-digit strikeout games) had more in his first 116 games at a Met...Overall, deGrom’s 24 double-digit strikeout games are tied for sixth-most in major league history since 1908 through a pitcher’s first 116 career games...See chart below...Eight-straight outs recorded from the third through the sixth innings were strikeouts.
