Mets: Cespedes, The Fans, and The Mets(Alternate Timelines)

                                                          


"WHAT? THE METS DIDN'T SIGN CESPEDES???"

 Let's call this version of the Mets Universe the JJ ABRAMS Timeline.

 The Mets get outbid on Cespedes by the Yankees of all teams. I can see fans calling into WFAN nonstop, threatening to move to Canada, marching in front of the Wilsons homes, and protesting at Citi Field. Chants of "Not My Owners" fill the streets. Conforto, Granderson, and, Bruce have been appointed to the outfield. Other fans reply to the Wilpon picketers with "Give the Outfield a Chance". Anger on both sides arise and the Mets haven't even played a game yet. The media is going wild. Twitter explodes. False news stories end up on Facebook...


"YES. THE METS GOT YO BACK"


We can call this the prime timeline.

Get it? The Mets "GOT YOUR BACK". The Mets sign Yo to a 5 yr deal worth $125 million. The Mets fans rejoice! "THIS TEAM IS GOING SOMEWHERE", is the cry! The Mets are going to be World Series Champs in 2017! IT'S DESTINY.... The Mets trade Jay Bruce for a third baseman after David Wright realizes that he has to retire due to not being cleared medically during the annual team physical. Wright is offered a job within the organization which he accepts. The Mets also get a bullpen arm in the Bruce deal. The third baseman who replaces Wright is a solid addition to the team who the Mets realize they can move to first base after Lucas Duda gets hurt again. Jose Reyes goes from utility infield backup to the everyday third baseman. Neil Walker has a solid year after returning from back surgery and Asdrubel Cabrerra has a "good" year but not as great as last year. The Mets prosper with healthy pitching and a solid defense and offense.The offense is led by YO with his timely/clutch homers. The Mets get to the World Series and win...

The Mets also get a bullpen arm in the Bruce deal. The first baseman who replaces Duda has an error riddled season where Duda is now considered a solid defensive player. Jose Reyes goes from utility infield backup to the everyday third baseman to fill in for David Wright who gets hurt again and is "day to day" . Neil Walker has a solid year after returning from back surgery and Asdrubel Cabrerra has a "decent" year but not as great as last year. The Mets pitching is healthy but the offense is very streaky leading to a lot of close losses. The long deal has made Yo relaxed and act like he has no reason to have to prove to earn his money. The Mets flounder and don't make the playoffs...

Mets: Who To Blame If Cespedes Doesn't Get Signed

Who to blame? Who to blame? Who. To. Blame?

I made a joke on twitter about this earlier. I blame the people who buy counterfeit jerseys and think it's okay. Now I've been thinking about it more. Those couple of bucks that the Mets get from jersey sales might have been just enough to help have a higher offer to YO. But don't worry getting that $35 neon orange jersey that matches the orange on road safety vests sure was worth it. Wasn't it?




I also love that you guys say they charge way too much for a jersey but yet you rent 10 beers at the ballpark which the actual markup would blow your mind....
