Mets Post Game Notes

METSCELLANEOUS: New York snapped its three-game losing streak with tonight's win...The Mets are 4-6 in their last 10 games.

METS BULLPEN: Worked 8.2 innings and allowed one run, earned, on seven hits...It's the ninth time in team history that the Mets bullpen has pitched 8.2 innings in a nine-inning game and the Mets have picked up the win...The last time it occurred was July 4, 2014 when the Mets 'pen tossed 8.2 innings following Jon Niese departing after 0.1 innings...New York won that game, 6-5.

INTERLEAGUE PLAY: New York improved to 5-4 vs. the American League this season and 171-160 vs. the AL since Interleague play began...The Royals are now 4-5 versus the National League in 2016.

ONE-RUN GAMES: The Mets improved to  14-9 in one-run games this season (8-4 at home)...Kansas City is now 12-7 in one-run games (2-6 on the road).

FIRST-INNING FUN: With Asdrubal Cabrera's solo homer in the first inning, the Mets have now hit 17 first-inning home runs...The 17 first-inning homers are the most in the majors...New York has outscored its opponents, 39-22 and is 28-11 when scoring first.

HOME RUNS: The Mets hit a pair of home runs tonight and now have 92 home runs through 69 games this season...New York entered the day tied for the third-most homers in the National League...The Mets are 32-14 when they hit a home run and 21-6 when they hit two or more home runs.

YOENIS CÉSPEDES: Hit a solo home run in the fourth inning for his 18th homer of the season...Over his last 12 games, Céspedes is batting .356 (16-45) with three home runs and seven RBI...He's also driven in a run in four of his last five games and seven of his last 11 games.

ASDRUBAL CABRERA: Connected on a solo homer in the first inning for his seventh home run of the season...Was his third go-ahead homer of the year...Four of his seven home runs have given the Mets the lead or tied the game...Was his 70th career RBI vs. Kansas City, which are the most he has vs. any opposing team.

JEURYS FAMILIA: Converted on his 23rd save of the season and is 23-23 in save opportunities this season...Familia entered the day tied for the major league lead in saves...Has now saved 39 consecutive games in the regular season dating to August 1, 2015, extending a franchise-record...It's the second longest active streak in the major leagues behind Arizona's Brad Ziegler, who's converted 43 straight save opportunities...Familia's 23 straight saves to open a season is one behind the Mets franchise-best mark of 24 games, accomplished by Armando Benitez in 2001.

HANSEL ROBLES: Tossed a career-high 3.2 innings and allowed one run, earned, on five hits to earn his first win of the season...Struck out a career-high six and walked one...His 3.2 innings tonight matched the longest outing of the season by a Mets reliever...Logan Verrett also worked 3.2 innings on May 28 vs. Los Angeles-NL.

Jen Pawol To Umpire Games In Gulf Coast League

From Last Year: Meet The Super Hero Identities Of The Amazing Mets

Somehow I never saw this pop up anywhere. You know some of you guys are trying to force superhero names on The Mets, well this site kind of did something like that.

From Monkeysfightingrobots.com

from the leadoff position, Granderson is a player who has saved the Mets a few times this season by legging out a double when the game was on the line. His penchant for swiping an extra base when in need has earned him a speedy alter ego: The Flash
New York Mets

Daniel Murphy

New York Mets
The resident Irishman who was brought up as a professional hitter. It’s only fitting that he finds himself among the ranks of a galactic alliance that can smack you around thanks to the countless objects that emulate from their ring (hopefully Murphy gets a ring soon!): The Green Lantern
Daniel Murphy New York Mets

David Wright

David Wright
For anyone who has been a fan of the Mets or followed David Wright may remember when he was Captain of his countries team in the World Baseball Classic. He’s also an incredible guy on and off the field which makes him truly live up to the Captain America monicker.
David Wright

Yoenis Cespedes

Yoenis Cespedes
He can do it all. He’s fast, strong, has a rocket of an arm from the outfield and even wears a shirt with a comic book style “BAM!” on it as an ode to his towering homeruns. Yoenis Cespedes truly is Superman.

Lucas Duda

Lucas Duda
Lucas Duda was almost invisible for two months, he had very pedestrian statistics. When the Mets traded for Kelly Johnson, Duda asked manager Terry Collins if he was going to take his job. “That’s up to you,” Terry said. One can only assume this angered Duda who proceeded to smash every single pitch that came his way. Lucas Duda is the Hulk. Duda Smash!

Wilmer Flores

Wilmer Flores

Wilmer Flores got traded, continued to play through his emotions, only to find out after he had bared his soul that the deal was off. Flores has been a Met since he was 16 so it was understandable. It also reminds you of a mutant who was very emotional, talented, and had been living a life on the road from an early age. Wilmer Flores is Nightcrawler.

Not fun when forced.
