Ed Kranepool QandA/Signing At Katch Astoria June 10, 2018

Hey Folks,

Ever since I posted about Ed Kranepool selling of his private memorabilia collection to help with his medical expenses, you guys have been great with trying to figure out a way to help him out. It dawned on Dan Twohig and myself that why don't we have a Q and A/signing with Ed. You guys can come support Ed, show him how much he means to you guys by coming for the event. The event price will be $25  for a ticket and an 8x10 that you can have signed by Ed. If you have an item that you already have that you also want signed, you can get that done for an extra $20 per each additional item. I wan to let you guys know in advance that Katch, Dan, and myself are taking all the proceeds from the admission and autographs and giving them right to Ed.

Ed will also be having an area set up of about 20 pieces of his collection for auction/sale for those of you folks who could not make it to his house to check out his private collection.

The event will be held at Katch Astoria on Sunday June 10th starting at 3 pm. Yes, the Mets play the Yankees that night at 8:05, so if you were going to head to the game later that night you can stop by Katch hang for a bit then mosey on over to Citi Field.

Tickets will be sold day of at Katch at the door (cash only).

St Lucie Mets Orange Jerseys

From metspolice.com

WOW. Just like Shannon over at Metspolice said these are bad. The QBC jerseys that we had made up this year looks better then the ones from the Mets. I do like the Florida Mr Met but not on the chest and that "11" ah. No.

Akron Rubber Ducks Having a Tim Tebow Section?

How does this work? Any other teams ever do something like this for an opposing team's player?

Who Gets a Free Pass Playing in NY?

The NY Post were looking at what players and coaches get a free pass in NYC. One was talking about Pre 2015 Terry Collins and the other is David Wright.

That’s an interesting take on it. Read more here

Don’t think I’m a fan of this, but could be cool if you wanted to be a Thor/Syndergaard bobble head for Halloween.

Possible Ed Kranepool Q and A/Signing ?

I was talking to Ed Kranepool about helping him raise some money for his kidney expenses. Would you guys be interested in a Q and A and a signing and maybe a Mets game viewing party at a location to be named later? There would be charge to get in and for autographs.

Mets Pitchers Becoming Villains?

Have we come to the point with the Mets that the “heroes” have become the “villains”? We have Matt Harvey Dent. Now it looks like we might have Stephen “Stevil” Matz. Well at least in the eyes of the best writers and some bloggers. Maybe a few of these pitchers that heads are messed up (Familia too) when they give up a hit or don’t get a strike called in their favor need good Ol’ Doc Sampson. Don’t know who he is? Go look him up.

Help a Mets Fan raise funds for his Kidney issues.

From Darren Meenan,

While hanging at the tailgate on Saturday, I was approached by two men. "Can I have a word with you?". Oh, man. What'd I do? Did we ship the wrong shirt sizes? Did they lose their tickets? No. Just looking for a little help. James Budgell and his brother Fred handed me a local Savannah newspaper clipping about James' son Liam. Liam was born into a Brooklyn family of die hard Mets fans that moved to Georgia back in 2010. Unfortunately, Liam is in dire need of a new kidney.
Liam had to endure Dialysis and is in critical need of a new kidney.
Read the rest of Darren’s Post here.
MG- I have been posting on here about Ed Kranepool needing a kidney, so of course I am going to post about Liam needing one too. If you want to donate here

MG-Why would you baby an adult man who has pitched in this league for years now. Going to have to just deal with it Matt.

MG- Bruce finally looks like he’s starting to come around a bit. I wonder how his foot is feeling and how much that is affecting him.MG- the Cardinals were trying anything to make sure they didn’t lose the game. Wouldn’t you try this if there was a doubt of someone touching all the bases?

MG- You don’t say.
You can read all these stories at NYPost.com

MG- Didn’t the post just say they weren’t going to baby Harvey? What gives NY Daily News?
MG- Or it ended when everyone was hurt or can’t pitch.

Citi Field has The Impossible Burger. Will be almost impossible to get.

Hey you guys want that Impossible Burger that everyone is talking about? You know they have it at Citi Field? No? Well they do, but only if you have access to the Delta 360 Club and the pricey seats it’s attached to.

Mets/Aramark you made folks happy that this was going to be an option until those same folks realized they couldn’t get it throughout the Ballpark.

You guys might want to consider making this a little more available at games. And yes this is coming from a carnivore who has enjoyed an Impossible Burger.

Francesa coming back to the Fan?

Who is this guy, Jay Leno? And now that he might be back you are giving the short end of the stick to Joe and Evan? Come on!!!
From the NY Daily News.
Francesa will be back in the 3 p.m.-7 p.m. slot, according to well-embedded Hudson Street (FAN Headquarters) rats. The sources said the 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. slot will be divided between Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts, currently FAN’s 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. team, and CMB, aka Chris Carlin, Maggie Gray and Bart Scott, who replaced Francesa earlier this year.

MG- I think it’s not just Harvey that has that problem. I think there were a bunch of pitchers in Harvey’s age group that don’t know how to pitch but are more like hurlers. Ojeda was a a little fried up eh?

Cespedes wants to play golf again
From the NY Daily News-
ATLANTA — Mickey Callaway understands the pull of the golf course. After Mets slugger Yoenis Cespedes said he was reconsidering his decision to give up golf during the season, the Mets manager said he was fine with his players golfing in season with some stipulations.
“I think golf is like anything else. If he does it the right way,” Callaway said. “If he’s smart about it: (on) off days, days we come in and we’re not taking (batting practice) and it doesn’t fatigue him or affect baseball, then guys can do what they want away from the field as long as it doesn’t affect what we are doing with the team.”
Read more here.
MG- Golf is fine when you are smart about it. For example, not playing it hours before a World Series game.
Matt Harvey Pissed at Being Sent to Pe
From the NY Daily News
On a scale of 1 to 10, I obviously am at a 10 with being pissed off,” Harvey said. “My performance hasn’t been there and I have to do whatever I have to do to get back in the starting rotation. Right now it’s go to the bullpen, work on some things to get where I need to be and get my (stuff) in order and figure it out.”

Read more here
MG- Matt. You aren’t the pitcher you were a few years ago. Are you really pissed off or are you going through the motions? I don’t know, maybe time in the pen will help you figure out what’s going on. If you really want to complain, maybe you can go start in Binghamton for a bit.

If you have the Athletic app you can check the rest of the story out there.
Carig nailed this big time. The Mets were so starved to have a big time player back when Harvey came up to the majors, they pretty much let him get away with anything he wanted.

MLB Food Fest

I flew back in from Atlanta yesterday in time to make sure I got to the MLB foodfest. I’m glad I did. This was actually a really well run event. Folks attending were civil and were actually polite and didn’t try to cut lines for the food(at least from what I saw).

I ate where too much yesterday. Folks on social media on Saturday were complaining about the serving sizes of the offerings. Those folks have never been to a tasting before. You aren’t supposed to be having a full meal for each item.  I am not a seafood fan but my wife and my buddies had the Washington Grilled Crab grilled cheese and The Giants version of it and they all said the Nats one was better. Mets sent their pastrami and this is one of my fave foods from Citi Field and it tasted great also. Tampa Bay had a Cuban style hot dog sandwich which folks were digging. There were chicken and waffle cones, cheese curds and brats, buger sliders, bacon wrapped hot dogs, ice cream in helmets, and from Arizona a churro hot dog which was a desert that had a line consistently throughout the day. Miami in a cost cutting move decided to move their bacon wrapped plaintains in a trade to the Bronx for a good to be named later. Okay not really. They just ran out of them because they seemed to be very popular.

Cool event, if they run this again somewhere, I’d recommend trying to hit it because how many times in your life are you going to be able to sample all the foods from around the continental US.
