The7LineArmy Charity Softball Tourney Is Today!

You guys ready to come cheer on your friends and family as they play softball and raise money for Tuesday's Children??

From the7line.com

Funds raised from this event will be donated to Tuesday's Children. We've worked with this great organization on a few occasions and we couldn't be happier to keep that relationship going.
Tuesday's Children was formed in the aftermath of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, and is a response and recovery organization that supports youth, families, and communities impacted by terrorism and traumatic loss.
Tuesday’s Children works on the front lines of unimaginable tragedies, providing personalized support and a safe “landing place” to traumatized, grief-stricken children, families and communities left reeling from terrorism or traumatic loss.
Their work begins when the emergency response ends – when the true, life-altering impact of the violence sets in. They remain long after other aid organizations and the media have gone. This is their promise to those they serve.
Their proven, long-term approach to helping family members and communities recover was forged in the aftermath of Tuesday, September 11, 2001. Their programs enable their service population to, over time, heal, recover and ultimately thrive.
Tuesday’s Children is proud to offer the same life-changing programs for the military community as they did for those who lost a loved one on September 11th.

We encourage you to come on out to MCU Park in Coney Island to cheer on your fellow Mets fans competing in this inaugural event while raising money for a great local charity.
16 teams of Mets fans will compete in a co-ed single elimination tournament.
Tickets are just $10 with $5 of that going to Tuesday's Children.
Doors open at 8:30am and the first games start at 9am. The final game will get going at 5pm and you'll definitely not want to miss that one. Big time bragging rights at stake.
Championship and MVP trophy presentations to follow.
It'll be a long day, but don't worry, concessions will be open and the Cyclones are allowing re-entry. So, if your favorite team gets knocked out, you can stroll around Coney and come back for the finals.

So You Guys Think The Wilpons are Broke?

You guys keep using the same old lines that the Mets are broke and the Wilpons haven't recovered from the Madoff scandal. And you Islanders fans who want to boycott the Mets because of the moves they made at the end of the season should read this...

From Newsday,

"The Islanders’ group is labeled New York Arena Partners, LLC. It includes Sterling Project Development, which is controlled by the Mets’ Wilpon family and Oak View Group, an arena development company backed by Madison Square Garden."

They put the bid in on the Belmont development to develop the area in Belmont for the Islanders arena...

Read more about it here.

The flags have been around for a while. Usually it's two or three The7line flags and a NY State flag. Never once has there been a problem with them. If they are banned, why isn't in the list of banned objects over the loud speaker when you are entering the stadium? I can legit find stuff that could cause way more damage then that.

The Red Coats Are Coming

This comes in from a patron of Citi Field.

If you are a regular at CitiField you see people with Red Shirts that say SECURITY on them. What may you be wondering do they do.  For the most part the younger security guards stare at there cell phones most of the game and when they are not on their phones, they are standing in a central location watching the game. It's a nice job for over $20 an hour. The Senior Security Guards do walk around the stadium and try to make sure that it is a safe environment, but for the most part they do nothing but walk around and do nothing as well"
I know two security personnel and I know these guys are actually paying attention to their surroundings. Now don't get me wrong, I do pay attention to some of these guys that are also over aggressive and will come down after some one for doing pretty much nothing. I also know the guy who sent me this email and I am sure he isn't exaggerating about it. I personally haven't seen what he describes..

What have you folks seen?

Mets: When Is Terry Collins Retiring?

When do you think the Mets announce that Terry Collins and Dan Warthen are "retiring"? I bet we get a press conference on Monday mid morning. The players love TC and would run through walls for him, but he has got to be one of the worst in game situational managers that I have seen manage a game. Bringing in too many relievers one day, leaving a starter in too long the next, pinch hitting for a player that was tearing the seems off the ball for someone who was "better" in that situation that might have been based loaded, or my favorite, player A is so hot he's on fire and Terry sits him because he needs a break.....

Dan Warthen. How many pitching arms has he hurt with the Warthen Slider? Are the Mets pitchers hurting just from medical/training staff? Or are they also hurting from the mechanics that Warthen has showed them?

Who's next for The Mets? Is Frank Viola finally going to get his shot in the Majors? I think he deserves it. Look what he did in Vegas with the pitchers on the Mets now. Solid pitchers that may or may not have been messed up by Warthen.

As for the successor to Terry Collins. I have no clue who's next. Ventura? Backman(not ever going to happen)? Teufel? Who is going to be available from other teams? Do the Mets want to take someone else's manager that was fired from their team? Are there any managers in the minors across the league that may be the next big thing?

Questions.... Questions.... Questions.....

My Last Home Mets Game of 2017

I was bummed Saturday night. Found out I promised the Mrs. months ago that I'd go
to a friend's wedding down in Maryland. So I missed the last 7line game I was going to be able to attend because I have to work Wednesday. I told Mrs Goon that I wasn't missing yesterday's game no matter what and I left Maryland at 5:30 am to make it back to Queens drop her off and unpack before I left for the stadium.

As I was sitting in my seats yesterday, I was thinking about how beige this season was. No big "good events" happened. Usually even during a losing season one or two positive things happen. Not this year or not that I can remember, so yeah, it was a beige season.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed going to all my games and having out, cheering for the Mets. Did away games and visited other cities that I might not have hit otherwise.

I'm not one of those fans that were pissed off that the Mets dumped Salary at the end of the year, I was mad that they didn't drop Salas sooner though. But why waste money paying guys in their walk years for a few more months? Even got some bodies back. Hopefully the Mets invest that money back into next season.

My next time that I'll be at Citifield will be for tee times at the Stadium Links weekend in November. After that not until March/April. Hopefully there will be more to cheer about in 2018zzz

Mets and Augmented Reality

Hi we are the Mets. We have bad timing with a lot of things. Honestly we don't do this on purpose.

From the NY POST

"This AR animation will then segue into a highlight reel of Mets home runs from the 2017 season.

The Mets are the first MLB team to experiment with this technology, and, according to Wes Engram, the team’s VP for corporate sponsorships, it’s for good reason.

“One of our goals, organizationally, is to be one of the most tech-forward franchises in professional sports,” Engram told The Post. “We’re always looking for ways to enhance the fan experience.” "

I can see the augmented reality jokes coming in now about surgeries, selling the team, and coaching.
