On Jackie Robinson Day, No Jackie Robinson Gear Sold at Citi Field
I was walking around the ballpark today wanting to take a pic or two of the Jackie Robinson patches on the jerseys and caps. Weird thing. There weren't any. I figured maybe they just had it in one store down by the Jackie Robinson Rotunda. Nope. Went to to the Majestic store. Nope. Went to the team clubhouse store where the Verizon store was. Again Nope. I finally went all the way up to the Clubhouse store on the Promenade level and struck out there too. Finally asked what was going on with that. You know what they told me. It was an online exclusive. What? Why would you just have this as an online exclusive? Every year, the MLB honors Jackie Robinson and you would figure you would want some merchandise out there for sale. There might be younger folks who learn more about Jackie and want to wear a cap or a jersey or a sweatshirt to honor him day of? The fact that you can only buy this stuff from Fanatics(who also now owns Majestic) who has some of the worst customer service I have ever seen, is the gatekeeper for this is ridiculous.
Are all the "holiday" jerseys going to be online exclusives too? I am going to keep my eye out on out when those dates get closer.
MLB you guys have to do a better job then this.
