passed away on Thursday...He would have celebrated his 74th
birthday on Sunday...The Mets will wear a patch on the right
sleeve on their home and away uniforms during the 2018 season
honoring Staub...The patch features his autograph in orange...
Staub played for the Mets from 1972-1975 and 1981-1985...He
batted .423 in 1973 World Series and slugged three home runs
in the 1973 National League Championship Series...In 1975, he
became the first Mets player with 100 or more RBI in a season...
Staub was in his 19th year as a club ambassador...Staub was well
known for his philanthropic endeavors, including establishing
the New York Police and Fire Windows' and Children's Benefit
