8-year-old James Aronstein to Appear in the SNY Booth
Monday, August 29th Versus the Miami Marlins
[New York] August 22, 2016 – SNY, the official television home of the New York Mets, has announced that third grader James Aronstein of New York City has won the network’s Kidcaster Contest presented by New York’s 529 College Savings Program Direct Plan. Aronstein will appear in the SNY broadcast booth alongside SNY’s critically acclaimed team of Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez, and Ron Darling on Monday, August 29th to assist in calling a half-inning of the Mets-Marlins matchup at Citi Field.
At eight years old, Aronstein is the network’s youngest ever Kidcaster Contest winner. Despite his age, the first time entrant was impervious to the bright lights during the contest’s final round at the SNY studio in Manhattan, where Aronstein captivated SNY’s panel of judges with his baseball knowledge and enthusiasm. Aronstein is the eighth winner of SNY’s popular Kidcaster Contest joining past winners Kyle Singh (2009), KaraAnne Galante (2010), Jacob Resnick (2011), J.J. Post (2012), Johnny Gadamowitz (2013), Lucas Simms (2014), and Dante Sasso (2015).
The Kidcaster Contest hits a home run with the Mets’ youngest fans as it offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity for kids to showcase their love for the Mets and brings attention to the importance of saving for college for the next generation of college students through the contest’s affiliation with New York’s 529 College Savings Program Direct Plan. Debuting in 2009, SNY’s Kidcaster Contest presented by New York’s 529 College Savings Program Direct Plan winners have delivered some of the most memorable play-by-play moments for the Kidcaster and viewers alike since the program’s inception.
